Final assignment for Nicholas Kole’s Illustration workshop at la Galeria Roja. The goal was to develop a character design focused on the element of “surprise”, with a revealing moment to subvert the expectations. I have decided to represent the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz, as a little cub dealing with his fears by building a big (and cozy) costume to shield himself from the outside world and to (supposedly) scare everybody else with overexaggerated signs of lionesque strength (like the mane, the paws, the roar).
It’s been a great (and challenging) experience and I’m very grateful for the feedbacks and the advice received!
